Official Rangers partner admits ‘concern’ around performances of Ben Davies after 5-2 win v St Mirren

Official Rangers partner Four Lads Had A Dream have admitted they are “concerned” by the recent performances of Ben Davies.

The Gers claimed a 5-2 win over St Mirren on Saturday (15 April), bouncing back well from a 3-2 loss to Celtic, but the overall performance was poor.

Defensively the team looked open and lost without Connor Goldson in the heart of the defence, and writing on their official Twitter account Four Lads made sure to point out their concerns publicly.

“Hopefully he goes on to prove me wrong but I am still concerned with what we are seeing,” they wrote.

Worrying

Davies has looked solid and assured alongside Goldson this season, and the record the team has defensively with the two of them together is imperious.

However in the small sample size we have where he has been paired with someone else, Davies has looked shaky and that isn’t good enough for someone who cost £4m.

Rangers

It’s easy to look good when you’ve got a top defender like Goldson holding your hand through games and leading things, but we need Davies to step up and become that player when Goldson isn’t there.

If he can’t do that then this is the wrong club for him because we can’t afford to have passengers in this side when we have aspirations to compete with Celtic at the top of the table and for all the cups.

Davies has to improve, but it seems as though Michael Beale knows that too and now we have to give him the chance to prove that he can before we make any rash decisions.
