Sky Sports reporter reacts from Ibrox to Rangers v St Mirren after Jeff Stelling message
Jeff Stelling’s surprise was understandable but the intrigue didn’t last too long at Ibrox, as the veteran broadcaster reacted to Rangers v St Mirren, live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.
The Buddies equalised from behind, twice, but they could not hold out as Rangers ran out 5-2 winners in an entertaining yet unexpected thriller.
Rangers late flourish delivered a deserved win, even if the three-goal deficit was a bit harsh on Stephen Robinson’s team, with Mark Benstead not impressed with what he saw.
An upset appeared to be on the cards with the update for 2-2 bringing a stirring reaction from Stelling.
“What about that score at Ibrox,” he said. [15 April, 16:32] “St Mirren twice coming from behind.”
Sky reporter Benstead responded live from Ibrox, and he was not impressed: “He’s done it again, a second goal of the afternoon for Mark O’Hara. Poor Rangers defending, they couldn’t clear their lines.”

Going through the gears
A lacklustre 70 minutes was followed by a fine finish for Michael Beale’s Gers.
The manager will have been delighted by how his team secured the victory, especially after he threw caution to the wind in pursuit of the three points.
With less than 15 minutes to go, Malik Tillman, Nico Raskin and Ben Davies were replaced by Scott Arfield, Ianis Hagi and Glen Kamara. Beale rolled the dice and less than 10 minutes later 2-2 became 5-2.
Much of what was good about Rangers was epitomised by Todd Cantwell, the former Norwich man who was at his fluent, influential best. This was displayed with aplomb as he went past four defenders to slip in Arfield who produced a deft finish for the final goal of the game.
An afternoon that threatened a disappointing draw ended up producing a decisive win, the more of that ruthless streak, the better.
