Heart and Hand rages at 'pub standard' Rangers defending after 5-2 win v St Mirren

Rangers official partner Heart and Hand were left raging at the “pub standard” defending in their 5-2 win over St Mirren on Saturday [15 April].

The Light Blues overcame some stubborn St Mirren resistance at Ibrox to shorten Celtic’s advantage at the top to nine points at least until the leaders visit to Kilmarnock on Sunday thanks to goals from Todd Cantwell, Fashion Sakala, an Alfredo Morelos double and Scott Arfield.

However, Michael Beale’s men were made to work for their win and were pulled back by St Mirren twice after Mark O’Hara’s tremendous double and Heart and Hand [15 April] took to their Twitter account to state their dismay at the Gers’ slack defending.

They tweeted: “Rangers defending has been pub league standard today. So many basic errors.”

Fortunate

Rangers’ 5-2 win doesn’t even tell the full story of their performance on the day and they were incredibly fortunate that their frontman were ruthless in front of goal, or else, it could have been a disappointing result all but handing Celtic an easy Scottish Premiership title triumph.

Beale will have not been happy about his defenders John Souttar and Ben Davies once again, especially after their dreadful errors against Celtic last weekend, and they were made to rue some more errors on Saturday too.

If the Gers want to topple Celtic in the near future, they simply cannot afford to be defending the way they did and it is why Beale will be looking to significantly reshape his defence in the coming summer window.

Also, the Gers will be hoping to have Conor Goldson back in contention following his injury, especially with a crucial Scottish Cup semi-final date with their Old Firm rivals again.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have completed a transfer “coup” with terms now agreed at Ibrox
