Rangers will not be forced to scrap sponsorship deals amid Premier League ruling

Rangers, Celtic and all the other teams in the SPFL will not be impacted by the Premier League ruling of banning gambling sponsors.

The English top flight announced that all current deals will be allowed to go ahead but after the 2025/26 campaign, they will not be allowed to have front-of-shirt gambling sponsors.

The Daily Record has reported on 13 April that no such rules will apply to clubs north of the border and Gers can be allowed to have the sponsors they want.

Good for clubs in Scotland

While the idea of having betting companies on the front of the shirt may not be the best thing in the world, it’s good at the SPFL are not governed by decisions made in England.

The league does not have as much money as the Premier League gets from broadcasting deals and advertisements and this appears to be one of their major sources of income.

There’s still a huge gulf in revenues and that’s not going to affect the English clubs in the slightest so they can go ahead and pass this rule.

There will be sponsors queueing up to get their names on the front of jerseys while the same cannot be said about Scottish sides.

Rangers need to up their revenue game as they are a legacy club and still a household name in European football.

Hopefully, with Ross Wilson and Douglas Park gone, the board can now bring in experts who can transform the future of the club.

In other Rangers news, the club may now approach a sporting director who built a Champions League winning team and can hire him for free.
