Rangers may attempt to bring ex-Bayern Munich chief Christian Nerlinger back to Ibrox to replace Ross Wilson

Rangers may very well go down the former player route as they eye Ross Wilson’s replacement and ex-Bayern Munich chief Christian Nerlinger is an interesting option.

Wilson left for Nottingham Forest this week and his stint at Ibrox was not one that fans will remember too fondly.

His exit was celebrated by the supporters and they will be calling on the board to make the right appointment this time as the gulf between the two Glasgow clubs has grown this season.

Rangers

According to the Scotsman [13 April], the former Germany international, Nerlinger, may be tempted to return to Ibrox, having spent three seasons at the game.

He was the sporting director at Bayern Munich for three years in the last decade and has since been working as a player agent.

He’s got the business acumen to be in a director of football position and also has the know-how and awareness of what clubs want in the transfer market and that’s only going to be a bonus for the club.

Rangers

Much like Michael Beale, Nerlinger knows what Rangers stand for and may just be the right man to work with the head coach to take this club forward.

It’s always seen as a step up to work as club chief instead of an agent and the German will surely be open to the idea if he’s approached by Rangers.

While he must not be the first choice option, he can certainly be someone who can be a decent short-term fix.

In other Rangers news, the club may now approach a sporting director who built a Champions League winning team and can hire him for free.
