Rangers want to sign Barcelona midfielder Pablo Torre on loan this summer

Rangers want to sign Barcelona midfielder Pablo Torre on loan this summer after failing to sign him last year, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Gers attempted to sign the young Spaniard but he opted to join the Catalan giants instead, but has failed to break into their first-team.

He is now set to leave temporarily in order to get more regular football elsewhere, and according to a report (13 April) Rangers have emerged as a potential destination due to their interest last summer.

“Rangers have been successful this season with the loan of Malik Tillman, Bayern Munich’s attacking midfielder who has scored 12 goals in 40 games, and could repeat the formula with Pablo Torre according to the latest information coming from Scotland,” they wrote.

Strange

It would be very strange for Rangers to enter the market for another loan player in the attacking department when a rebuild is what is necessary.

Malik Tillman has been excellent since coming from Munich and that is likely to become permanent, while the future of Ryan Kent is still up in the air with his contract set to expire.

But even if he were to leave, the club still have all of Fashion Sakala, Todd Cantwell, Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo for the wide positions with Alex Lowry and Ianis Hagi also able to play behind the striker too.

Unless one or two of those are to leave the club there won’t be much space for Torre, and we shouldn’t be developing talents for other clubs unless they can really help us long term like Tillman will.

If Beale wants him then he must have a plan long-term to get him to stick around, and if that’s the case a loan would help with the budget for a busy summer yet still address a problem area.

In other Rangers news, the club are in battle with Celtic for a wantaway Premier League player.
