Rangers news as £150,000 figure emerges for Ross Wilson exit today

Nottingham Forest have paid Rangers between £140,000 and £150,000 for the services of Ross Wilson, according to The 4th Official.

After joining Rangers in October 2019, Wilson accepted an offer to become the Nottingham Forest chief football officer, with the midlands club confirming the news on their website on Wednesday night (12 April).

Wilson will be returning to a familiar stomping ground in the Premier League after previously working with Watford, Huddersfield Town, and Southampton before taking the job at Ibrox.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday evening (13 April), The 4th Official shared the fee that the Gers were going to receive from the Premier League strugglers.

They tweeted: “I have been told that Nottingham Forest paid Rangers between £140-150k for Ross Wilson.”

For many Rangers fans, the exact fee of Wilson’s exit won’t mean a great deal after months and months of protesting for his resignation.

Wilson’s failures at Rangers have been well documented over the last two years, with the club’s poorly devised transfer strategy and the ultimately poor choice of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as manager coming back to bite him.

The fact that the Gers didn’t look to recoup any kind of transfer fee for the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, who both see there contracts expire at the end of the season, was a ludicrous decision, with a host of clubs now looking to snap the pair up on a free transfer.

On the whole, the leadership of Rangers has been pretty torrid in recent times, and the 12-point gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership is plain evidence of this.

Wilson’s departure will hopefully start a clean slate for both Michael Beale and Rangers as they look to repair the damage at Ibrox and return to the top of Scottish football.

In other Rangers news, Giresunspor defender Alexis Perez has reportedly played up the transfer links and urged Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos to leave Ibrox.
