Rangers injury news as Conor Goldson set to return for crucial Scottish Cup semi-final v Celtic
Rangers boss Michael Beale has revealed Conor Goldson will be back in contention for the Scottish Cup semi-final with Celtic at the latest.
The veteran defender was a big miss for the Light Blues in last week’s Old Firm clash at Parkhead having picked up a hip injury as two defensive errors helped Celtic on their way to a vital 3-2 Scottish Premiership win.
And Beale speaking to Rangers TV [via Daily Record, 13 April], revealed the centre-back will be out for this weekend’s game against St Mirren but could be back for the trip to Aberdeen, and definitely the Hampden showpiece.

He said: “In terms of last week, Connor won’t return, it will more likely be back for Aberdeen or certainly for the semi-final at the end of the month. We have one or two other bumps and bruises.
“There was a game on Tuesday against Chelsea reserves where Leon King, Ianis Hagi, Rabbi Matondo and Scott Wright got valuable minutes. We will assess tomorrow (Friday) and pick the squad for the weekend.”
Crucial
We saw how lacklustre Rangers were without Goldson’s presence at the back, with both Ben Davies and John Souttar giving away cheap goals to Celtic through terrible and needless errors in defence.
That certainly will not have happened had Goldson been on the pitch, and the Gers could well have been staring at the first triumph over Celtic under Michael Beale.

Having the veteran defender back for the Scottish Cup semi-final will be crucial for their chances of success against the Hoops at the end of the month, as he remains a vital and influential cog in the Rangers defence.
Without him, the Gers look lost and lacking organisation and that is why Beale will be looking for some defensive quality in what will be a testing and pivotal summer ahead for the Scottish giants.
In other Rangers news, Giresunspor defender Alexis Perez has reportedly played up the transfer links and urged Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos to leave Ibrox.
