Rangers could receive ‘six-figure compensation package’ as Ross Wilson departs for Nottingham Forest
Rangers could receive a “six-figure compensation package” for the recently-departed Ross Wilson, according to the Daily Record.
Sporting director Wilson has been confirmed as the new chief football officer of Premier League club Nottingham Forest.
Joining Rangers in October 2019, he returns to England having previously worked for Southampton, Watford and Huddersfield.

“The bottom line is that Wilson was operating with one hand behind his back and the fact he has accepted a return to the Premier League shows he is a well-respected figure down south,” according to the Daily Record.
“Rangers may get a six-figure compensation package – but it will surely only be in the weeks after he leaves that Rangers and their fans realise his real value.”

No tears shed
The majority of Rangers supporters are seemingly ecstatic at the news that Wilson has departed, with the sporting director not a very popular figure at Ibrox.
He managed to negotiate the big-money sales of Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey to Everton and Ajax respectively, as well as bringing in a handful of talented players.
Wilson even helped Rangers win their 55th top-flight title under manager Steven Gerrard, before appointing both Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale in the dugout.
But the club have been in Celtic’s shadow ever since, with many Rangers fans disappointed with recent transfer dealings and with the many players who have failed to have any impact since arriving at Ibrox.
There won’t be many tears shed at Wilson’s departure, with the 39-year-old quickly set to be under pressure from a new group of supporters as he takes on a difficult role at Forest.
The Premier League club are currently in a battle for their Premier League safety, while their astonishing transfer market dealings are well-documented.
In other Rangers news, Giresunspor defender Alexis Perez has reportedly played up the transfer links and urged Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos to leave Ibrox.
