Rangers and Ross Wilson could face decision in days as Nottingham Forest breaking news emerges

Rangers and Ross Wilson are set to face a “major decision” within days as Nottingham Forest line up a move for the Sporting Director, according to the Scottish Daily Express.

The Premier League club is said to be keen to close a deal to bring Wilson back to England, where he previously worked for Southampton.

The potential move comes at a time of relative unrest at Ibrox with a section of the fans continuing to target the 39-year old as well as chief executive Stewart Robertson for their perceived failings in key positions at the club.

As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, there would be an element of upheaval given the squad rebuild planning that is well underway with the 55 times Scottish league winners.

It is shared that Forest have shown that they are not afraid to spend money upon their return to the big time in England, signing more than 20 players in the end.

Significant regression

A huge decision awaits over the coming days regarding the Forest approach and it will come down to where Wilson sees his immediate future.

The East Midlands’ club is currently in the Premier League drop zone with relegation to the Championship more than possible. Given the influx of players into Steve Cooper’s squad over the last two transfer windows, there would be plenty for Wilson to get his teeth stuck into, should he opt for a fresh start.

On the other hand, Beale has recently stated that plans for next season at Ibrox are aligned, between him and the sporting director, so he may yet want to stay to see the job through despite the ongoing noise around his position.

Wilson has been in Glasgow since 2019 and in that time the club won the Scottish title under Steven Gerrard but two seasons on, the squad has regressed significantly which he is partly responsible for. There is doubt if he should have a significant role in another rebuild.

A clean break for both parties would be of mutual benefit with this development.
