Nottingham Forest in contact with Rangers to hire Ross Wilson amid Ibrox protests

Nottingham Forest are trying to hire Ross Wilson with contact already initiated with Rangers, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

Writing on The Athletic website on Tuesday night (11 April), Ornstein reported that Forest want to hire Wilson, 39, in a “senior football role”.

Forest confirmed earlier on Tuesday that Filippo Giraldi had left his role as sporting director at the struggling English Premier League side.

Forest are now “working on a deal to appoint” Wilson, who’s previously worked at Watford, Huddersfield and Southampton in England.

Good riddance

It’s not the Wilson news Rangers fans were hoping to hear – in fact, it’s even better.

Supporters have understandably been calling for Wilson to be sacked due to how bad recruitment has been during his time as the sporting director at Ibrox.

While Wilson should be praised for the big-money sales of Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, he’s ultimately played a role in the club losing millions because of how many players will be leaving this summer as free agents.

Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent could’ve brought in millions a couple of seasons ago but now they’re set to leave for nothing.

Rangers

Wilson’s offered out new contracts to ageing players and those who haven’t deserved them and couldn’t think of anything more imaginative than re-hiring Michael Beale to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the manager in November.

Wilson’s time at Rangers should have been brought to an end.

But now it seems like we might get lucky and a team in England will be paying for the luxury of having him on their board.

Good luck, Forest. If you get your man, you’re going to need it.

In other Rangers news, fans have been blasted and called “maniacs” for a conspiracy theory after an announcement was made by the SFA.
