Rangers transfer news as Alfredo Morelos set for MLS or Middle East move
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is destined to complete a move to either the MLS or the Middle East in the summer transfer window, according to Daily Record journalist Michael Gannon.
The Colombian forward, whose contract at Ibrox expires at the end of the season, has been rumoured with a move to Premier League clubs Wolves, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in the summer, with any concrete negotiations at Rangers yet to surface regarding an extension. [TEAMtalk]
Morelos hasn’t had the most productive season under either Giovanni van Bronckhorst or Michael Beale, with the usual questions about his professionalism being raised and the striker delivering an underwhelming nine goals from 28 appearances.

Writing in the Daily Record (Tuesday, 11 April, page 46), Gannon hinted that the 26-year-old was unlikely to put pen to paper in Scotland and instead pursue a move to pastures greener in either America or the Middle East.
“But Rangers? It’s all too one-paced. Which is why Michael Beale and Ross Wilson need to get a shift on this summer,” he wrote.
‘Morelos is destined to tow his caravan to the Middle East of the MLS in a few months.”

Time to go
Morelos has always polarised opinions within the Rangers fanbase, but you can’t help feeling this summer is the natural time for him to depart the club.
The forward’s usual antics on the pitch and glaring weaknesses can be justified by the sheer number of goals scored for the club. However, his form has dropped off this season and he hasn’t bagged the necessary amount to justify his wages and position in the squad.
As long as Ross Wilson and Beale have a succession plan for if Morelos were to leave in the summer, and suitable replacements have been scouted, letting him go should be no issue.
A potential move to the Middle East or the MLS is a little surprising, considering that Morelos is still only in his mid-twenties with plenty of football left in his career.
Such a move would likely be a backwards step in his career, with the likes of Aston Villa or Wolves, or even a move to La Liga, far more ambitious play’s.
Unless a remarkable U-turn takes place, it now looks all but confirmed that Rangers will be scouting the transfer market for a new centre-forward in the summer transfer window.
In other Rangers news, a twice-capped international goalkeeper is a target for Michael Beale.
