Craig McPherson blasted for alleged ‘out of order’ Rangers incident by former ally
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Tam McManus doesn’t want to see Rangers sack Craig McPherson after the women’s team coach allegedly headbutted Celtic Women manager Fran Alonso last month.
On 1 April, Sky Sports reported how McPherson apologised to Alonso over the incident, which is “the subject of police enquiries”.
McManus has previously worked with McPherson and while he expects his former ally to be punished by the SFA and possibly by Rangers, he doesn’t want to see him lose his job.
“I don’t think he should be sacked and listen, people have got strong opinions on this – as is always the case between Rangers and Celtic,” McManus told Ibrox News.
“It’s absolutely out of order.
“I know him personally, I worked with him at Falkirk years ago and I think that’s totally out of character for him.
“He’s out of order and he’s got to take his punishment. He will get a lengthy ban.
“He’s come out and apologised to Celtic and to Fran Alonso.

“He’s made a big mistake but people make mistakes and should get a second opportunity.
“I don’t think he should be sacked but he’ll get a big ban and a fine and if it happens again, he’s out of the door.
“It was a rush of blood in the moment. We’ve all been there but I don’t think he should lose his job over it.”
McPherson has been charged by the SFA and he said that he will “accept in full whatever punishment they deem appropriate”.
Police Scotland and the Gers are also said to be investigating the March incident.
In other Rangers news, fans have been blasted and called “maniacs” for a conspiracy theory after an announcement was made by the SFA.
