Official club partner responds to Rangers reported approach for Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland
Rangers have not made an approach to sign Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland despite reports, according to official club partner Heart and Hand.
Reports emerged on Sunday night (9 April) that the club had made an official approach to Hearts for Shankland about a summer transfer, with an enquiry about how much he would cost.
But responding to those reports, the club’s official partner extinguished the flame of the rumour and said that there has been no approach at all.
“Rangers haven’t made an approach for Lawrence Shankland,” they wrote on their official Twitter account (10 April).
The 4th Official, who originally reported the approach, also tweeted to say that Rangers had officially denied their story and they update their article to reflect the denial.
Long way to go
This is going to be a long and busy summer transfer window for Rangers, so what is said now by anyone will not necessarily remain true as we go from May to September.
Shankland has been incredibly impressive for Hearts this season with 22 goals in 40 games, including a hat-trick in October against Celtic, and cost only £500k when he joined from the Belgian league.

But now he is likely to cost at least seven-figures and Rangers must decide if he is the main man to come in, but also if he is better than the current options.
Alfredo Morelos looks closer to leaving Ibrox than staying with every passing day, while Antonio Colak has impressed with his goalscoring but doesn’t seem to be Michael Beale’s cup of tea overall.
This is certainly one to keep an eye on as we get closer to the summer window, but for now Rangers are denying the approach. That doesn’t mean there isn’t interest or that there won’t be an approach at a later date though.
In other Rangers news, a club partner has named 3 players that should start going forward as they will “be here next season.”
