Douglas Park sends one last power message to Scottish Premiership before Rangers exit – Finance Guru
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Douglas Park sent one last powerplay message to the Scottish Premiership before his exit from Rangers last week.
Park Motors have signed up to a new partnership with the Women’s SWPL in which they will also claim the naming rights for the remainder of this season.
The finance expert admitted that given his row with the Men’s league, this is a power play before it was confirmed that he would be leaving the Rangers board.

“You can see the smartness of the move in a couple of ways,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“One is always being about a powerplay and a message back to the men’s league and all the stuff that has been kicking around.
“Also, from an opportunity point of view, we know the growth potential in women’s football, and we know the trajectory that it’s on, it is still an undervalued market so the entry price is a little bit cheaper. It’s a good deal for him and the company, it’s a good deal for the SPWL, and there is growth in the market so the savvy business side of that is pretty good in terms of getting into that market.
“There will also be that kind of powerplay and as always, egos play a part in that one.”

Park will still very much have a big say on what goes on in Scottish football, as he put these moves in place before signing off from his time on the Ibrox board.
This saga has been ongoing for months now and it doesn’t look like it will change because of his exit at Ibrox.
