Chris Sutton mocks Todd Cantwell after Rangers 3-2 Old Firm loss v Celtic

Chris Sutton has taken to his social media to mock Rangers star Todd Cantwell after the 3-2 Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic on Saturday (8 April).

The Gers suffered the first league defeat of the Michael Beale era at Parkhead to fall 12 points behind in the table and all but end the club’s title hopes for the season.

But Cantwell claimed that it wasn’t Celtic who won the game, more Rangers losing it, which sparked Celtic hero Sutton into action on Twitter as he reacted to the comments (9 April).

“Celtic scored 3 Todd. Rangers scored 2,” he wrote, accompanied by laughing emojis and a face palm emoji.

“So Celtic won and Rangers lost.”

Anyone with common sense knows what Cantwell is saying and would probably agree to some extent if they watched the game, so it stands to reason that Sutton doesn’t get it.

Rangers weren’t great overall, but two of the Celtic goals were handed to them on a plate by our poor defending rather than anything good that they did.

Rangers
Chris Sutton has been a vocal critic of Rangers.

In that situation, obviously Rangers will feel as though we gifted the three points to Celtic more so than us being outplayed or outfought on the day.

But Sutton and Celtic quite obviously have the bragging rights because ultimately it doesn’t matter how you get the three points in these games, so long as you get them, and we have to just bite our tongue and bear it for now.

It’s clear there is some sort of progression though because the three games against Celtic have seen us be more than competitive in comparison to when Van Bronckhorst was boss and we got thumped constantly.

In other Rangers news, an official club partner branded the referee a “total joke” for what he did against Celtic.
