Chris Sutton mocks Rangers, predicts Alfredo Morelos letter from SFA after Sky Sports update
Chris Sutton has mocked Rangers after it was revealed that the Light Blues intend to write to the SFA to explain why Alfredo Morelos’ goal against Celtic was disallowed.
It was a disappointing afternoon for Michael Beale’s side with The Hoops running out 3-2 winners to all but confirm their 53rd league title.
However, the Colombian saw a first-half header ruled out with a score at 0-0 and Sutton has predicted the SFA’s response to Rangers’ enquiry.
“You couldn’t make this up,” wrote Sutton (personal Twitter account, 8 April).
“SFA will write back, ‘dear Rangers, it’s because it was a foul by big Alf’.”
Ridiculous
There was absolutely no way Morelos should have been penalised. The 26-year-old was stronger than Alistair Johnston and the Canadian certainly made the most of the incident.
It’s moments like this which can define seasons and ultimately it was extremely damaging for Beale and Rangers. The title is all but confirmed to be heading to Parkhead after the defeat on Saturday. It would take an absolute miracle for the Gers to make up a twelve-point gap.

The Light Blues’ attention will now be firmly fixed on the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park. Realistically, it’s Rangers’ only chance to prevent Celtic from clinching a famous treble and Beale’s side have to turn up against Ange Postecoglou’s men.
There were certainly plenty of positives to take from the fixture on Saturday but the defensive mistakes will have to be irradiated if Rangers want to harbour any hope of reaching the Scottish Cup final.
