Alfredo Morelos transfer verdict emerges as Rangers star linked with Aston Villa transfer
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Tam McManus has slammed rumours linking Alfredo Morelos with a move to Aston Villa, claiming the Rangers striker isn’t good enough for an ambitious Premier League club.
TeamTalk reported on 4 April that Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Everton are all in the hunt to sign the 26-year-old Colombia international, who’ll be out of contract at the end of the season.
Morelos hasn’t had the best of seasons at Ibrox with questions being raised about the striker’s discipline, fitness, professionalism and form.

Due to those problems, McManus doesn’t feel as though a Premier League club with top-half ambitions will look to sign the Colombian – even if he’s available on a free transfer.
Speaking to Ibrox News, McManus said: “I don’t think he’s good enough for Aston Villa.
“If Morelos was going to go somewhere, it would be at most, bottom-end Premier League and I don’t think Villa are going to be there.
“They’re going to be pushing for the top eight next season under Unai Emery.
“I don’t see Morelos going to the Premier League.

“I could’ve maybe seen it a few years ago when he was flying and banging in goals in Europe. He looked fit and sharp.
“But the current Morelos, I don’t think he’s good enough for the English Premier League.”
Morelos has scored 10 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions for the Light Blues this season.
He’s started both of the club’s last two Scottish Premiership games but was substituted off in the second half without scoring a goal.
