Alfredo Morelos time at Rangers up after 3-2 Old Firm defeat v Celtic, Ryan Kent situation ‘unjustifiable’

The Scottish Mail on Sunday’s Gary Keown has slammed Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent after Rangers were beaten 3-2 by Celtic on Saturday afternoon.

It was an improved performance from Michael Beale’s side at Parkhead, despite a number of individual errors costing the Gers.

Writing in his Scottish Mail on Sunday column on Sunday (pg 98, 9 April) Keown claimed Morelos’ “time at Ibrox is up” and that handing Ryan Kent a new deal “looks unjustifiable”.

Time’s up

Kent and Morelos’ time at Rangers is coming to an end. Neither player will be at Ibrox next season and after Celtic’s latest victory, Beale should now gradually phase the pair out of his thinking.

Obviously, there’s the Scottish Cup semi-final to contend with, but with the league now all but lost, the former QPR boss should start playing players who will be at the club next season.

Rangers

The performance against The Hoops was much improved, with individual mistakes proving to be the Gers’ downfall. There should be plenty of positives taken and a new-found confidence heading into the semi-final clash.

It was refreshing to see Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin both start against Ange Postecoglou’s side. The January additions are settling into life at Ibrox and will now be primed to face Celtic again at the end of the month.

The Hampden Park clash is now looking like a make-or-break fixture. A win over The Bhoys would finally give the Gers something to shout about.

In other Rangers news, another Ibrox exit may be on the cards after a major revelation recently which could force the clubs to part ways with a senior player.
