Rangers v Celtic Old Firm prediction made by Tam McManus as Connor Goldson misses out

Tam McManus has predicted Rangers to suffer a 3-1 defeat against Celtic on Saturday amid Connor Goldson missing through injury.

He expects the hosts to go all out from the start and it’s on to Michael Beale’s side to weather that storm and stay in the game as long as possible.

In his view, if it is level at half-time then Gers have a chance of getting something from this game.

Via Twitter, McManus said, “Your predictions for Celtic V Rangers today? Celtic to win 3-1 for me. If Rangers can get in at HT level pegging at worst it might be a different story but need to weather the early Celtic storm. Hopefully a good game and no drama with VAR.”

Tough one

John Souttar starting for the first time in eight months is certainly not ideal in such a high-pressure game but it’s one that Beale was forced into.

Goldson was a doubt over the last 24 hours and the worst fears of Rangers fans have come true with him ruled out.

It’s on Souttar to prove why he was bought by the club and also personally, he would want to get back to match sharpness after a long injury lay-off.

Rangers

If Rangers can win this, they give themselves an outside chance in order to get back into the title race and that’s precisely what Beale would want.

While it is unlikely to oust Celtic in the race to secure the crown, as long as they’re in with a fighting chance, the title race will continue.

One bad game from the Hoops will reduce the deficit to three points and crazier things have happened in football so it’s going to be exciting if Rangers pick up the three points.

In other Rangers news, another Ibrox exit may be on the cards after a major revelation last week which could force the clubs to part ways with a senior player.
