Kris Boyd was amazed by the technique of James Tavernier as the Rangers captain equalised for his team in Saturday’s Old Firm defeat against Celtic at Parkhead.

Yes, there are defensive deficiencies in his game and as frustrating as that can be, the former Newcastle and Wigan player has mostly made his name from his contributions in attack at Ibrox in goals and key assists.
It’s a real pity that the free-kick could not be shared with a contingent of Rangers fans at Parkhead on Saturday with Celtic enjoying full support from the stands due to the ongoing dispute between the Old Firm clubs as will be the case at Ibrox next month.
It is a situation that needs to be resolved soon as it takes away from the spectacle and ultimately, the atmosphere of what should continue to be a unique and ferocious game.
Until a lasting solution is found, the absence of away supporters in this fixture will only continue the disservice to the traditions of the Old Firm rivalry.
