BBC pundit delivers verdict on Rangers v Celtic controversy
Leanne Crichton believes that the decision to rule out Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos’ goal v Celtic was the right one on Saturday, 8 April.
The Colombian scored a goal from the corner after he freed himself from a tangle, but the referee deemed him to have made a foul.
VAR also did not overturn the decision or even ask Kevin Clancy to have a look at the monitor and make up his mind.
Sky Sports shared the footage of the video on Twitter.
Looking at the replay, Crichton told BBC Radio Scotland, “First of all, Kyogo was definitely offside by a couple of yards. Good decision from the assistant referee.
“That one there, Johnston and Morelos had a grip of each other. Morelos gives him the slightest of pushes. It’s undoubtedly a foul but it’s a cheap one. Two correct decisions.”
Dismal
It’s surprising how this could’ve been called off as Morelos was only grappling to get himself out of that hold.
Had he gone down because of it, no penalty would’ve been given and it’s a pretty shocking way to officiate games.
If the goal would’ve been given, perhaps Rangers approach the rest of the game better and they may have even gone on to win it.

The officiating in the SPFL is extremely shambolic and things need to change ahead of next season or it’s going to be another campaign of controversies.
Celtic may have deserved the win on the balance of things, but if the right goals are allowed to stand, this could’ve been a very different game.
In other Rangers news, another Ibrox exit may be on the cards after a major revelation recently which could force the clubs to part ways with a senior player.
