Rangers: ‘Really bad news’ for fans as Brandon Vazquez transfer update emerges
Rangers are unlikely to be able to afford FC Cincinnati striker Brandon Vazquez after reportedly scouting him, according to The Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported on Thursday night (6 April) that the Gers, as well as “a number of top European clubs” have watched the 24-year-old USA international, who’s scored one goal in six MLS appearances in the new 2023 season.
However, the Light Blues could be priced out of a move for the ex-Atlanta United centre-forward because last August, he signed a contract that runs until 2025 and Cincinnati have the option to extend it by a further year.

The Scottish Sun adds that it could mean that signing Vazquez is beyond the realms of possibility for Rangers, who’d have to compete with English Premier League clubs if they want to sign him.
Onto the next one
It does make sense.
Rangers are very unlikely to be fishing in the same pond as clubs south of the border with 90min reporting on 5 April that the likes of Crystal Palace, Everton and Bournemouth are also eyeing up Vazquez.
We may even struggle to match some of the top-end English Championship clubs in the transfer market with Norwich, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough also being linked as they bid to return to the Premier League.
Rangers will need to be a bit more careful with how they spend money in the summer because they’re probably going to be losing players like Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos on free transfers when they could have brought in a heap of cash if they were sold a couple of years ago.

They’re also not going to have as profitable a season compared to the last one due to their short-lived time in European football.
Vazquez is a non-starter but he’s not the only one on Ross Wilson’s list of striker targets to replace the outgoing Morelos.
In other Rangers news, the club are in line for a multi-million windfall from the Premier League after a £10m Auchenhowie milestone was reached.
