Nicolas Raskin injury update shared ahead of Rangers Old Firm clash v Celtic

Michael Beale has confirmed Nicolas Raskin has been training all week ahead of Rangers’ Old Firm clash against Celtic on Saturday.

The Gers make the trip to Parkhead looking to cut the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to just three points and heap pressure on Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Raskin missed the Light Blues’ 2-0 win over Dundee United, but Beale has confirmed (Rangers’ official Twitter, 7 April) that the 22-year-old is fit.

“Raskin is fit and has trained all week,” said Beale.

Go for it

Beale has to really take the game to Celtic. Rangers cannot afford to draw and must go looking to steal all three points from their fierce rivals. The Scottish Premiership will be all but lost if a victory isn’t the outcome for the Light Blues.

There’s been an improvement under Beale and it’s up to the former QPR boss to win the tactical battle over Ange Postecoglou on Saturday. We know The Hoops like to be expansive and take the game to their opponents, so early pressure from the home side can be expected.

Rangers

Remaining tight at the back and ensuring the score remains 0-0 for as long as possible is an absolute must. We saw during the Parkhead fixture in September how falling behind in the opening exchanges can be extremely damaging to the Gers’ chances of picking up a result. Raskin being fit is a huge boost for the Light Blues boss and he simply has to start in the centre of the park.

In other Rangers news, the club remain in the dark over how a major recent move has impacted on their chances of a key £5million transfer move.
