Alfredo Morelos attracts transfer interest as Rangers exit talk swirls – Kenny Miller

Kenny Miller has claimed Alfredo Morelos is attracting “a lot of interest” with his Rangers’ future hanging in the balance.

TEAMtalk were the latest news outlet to link (4 April) the 26-year-old with a move away from Ibrox, with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace believed to be interested in his services.

Miller believes the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club is having an impact on his performances for Michael Beale’s side.

“I think Morelos has more pressing ability when fit and at it, more physical, he’s more mobile, there’s no doubt about it,” Miller told Go Radio (quoted by the Daily Record, 6 April)

“But at the moment looks like Colak is maybe working harder. So it’s a question out there but I just think what is going on with Alfredo.

“Where he [Morelos] is going to be playing his football next year? He came to the club as a 20-year-old and it’s something that has been constantly thrown at him, a lot of pressure on him, a lot of interest in him.”

Inevitable

It does feel like Morelos’ is edging closer to the exit door – if he signed a new deal it would be a surprise to almost everyone. The striker deserves the chance to test himself at a higher level considering all he’s done for the Gers since his arrival, but the manner of his exit could leave a sour taste.

The lack of clarity and links to other clubs haven’t helped the Colombian. Ross Wilson and the board should’ve cashed in on Morelos last summer and that’s also added to the frustration. For now, all the striker can do is continue to score goals and show he is invested in Beale’s plans in between now and the end of the season.

Rangers

A win on Saturday against Celtic would certainly provide an exciting end to the campaign. The Hoops are nine points ahead of Beale’s men, but the Light Blues would heap the pressure on with a win at Parkhead. It promises to be an intriguing affair with no away supporters in attendance.

In other Rangers news, John Hartson believes that Celtic can start celebrating their title win if they manage to pick up three points against the Gers this weekend.
