Rangers transfer news as board decide to sell Juan Alegria today for £100,000
Rangers have banked £100,000 for the sale of Juan Alegria to Finnish side FC Honka on Wednesday (5 April) after deciding the striker had no viable path into the first team, according to The 4th Official.
The 21-year-old Colombian, who failed to make a single first-team appearance for the Gers, was deemed surplus to the senior side’s requirements by the Rangers board.
Despite having just a year remaining on his contract, the Gers will not make a loss on the forward, who is likely to be the first of many exits from the club this year.

The 4th Official reported: “Rangers confirmed today [5 April] that Juan Alegria has joined Finnish side FC Honka for an undisclosed fee.
“I can confirm that Rangers will net around a £100,000 transfer fee for the transfer of Alegria.
“While there is a good chance that the 21-year-old comes good in the future, the Rangers hierarchy felt that there was not a viable path that they saw him breaking into the first-team in the near future.
“And with his contract running out at the end of the season, this seems like the best move for all parties concerned.
“The best part about this deal from a Rangers point of view is that despite the player not breaking into the main team and just a year left on his contract, the club will not make a loss.

Revamp
The permanent exit of Alegria comes as no surprise considering he never broke into the first-team ranks.
Michael Beale has already signposted his hopes to attack the summer transfer window and revamp his first-team squad, and this seems to be the first move of many over the coming months.
The striker was always going to be up against it to surpass both Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak in Beale’s plans, especially after his pretty average loan moves to Partick Thistle and Falkirk.
Having previously played at FC Honka, a reunion with the club makes complete sense to all parties.
Hopefully, going back to familiar surroundings in the Finnish league can help kickstart Alegria’s career once again and he can rediscover the form that led to Rangers signing him in 2021.
Rangers are in dire need of a rebuild this summer and the youngster’s sale could be the first piece of the puzzle to make the club serious title contenders next season.
