Rangers ‘hard watch’ verdict shared by Richard Gough ahead of Old Firm clash v Celtic
Former Rangers captain Richard Gough has admitted it’s “hard” watching the Light Blues play away at Celtic at present.
The Gers were demolished 4-0 at Parkhead on 3 September as Ange Postecoglou’s side took advantage of Rangers’ poor early season form under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Gough is concerned heading into the Celtic Park clash and admitted he may watch the game from behind his sofa in California, where he currently resides.

“Look at what’s happened the last few times we’ve played there,” said Gough (Daily Record, 4 April).
“There has been a 3-0 and a 4-0 in there. It’s got heavy!
“I still get up and watch it at something like half past four in the morning here but I’m sitting behind the couch! It’s a hard watch for me, especially when my record at Parkhead was a good one.”
Nothing but a win
It’s a fairly simple equation for the Gers and Michael Beale – they have to win. A draw will do nothing in their bid to snatch the league title off of The Hoops. It’s absolutely essential for Beale’s side to remain defensively sound during the early encounters.
With no away fans present and Postecoglou’s men backed by what will be a buoyant Parkhead, the Light Blues must be prepared to weather an early storm from the home side. If the Gers can take the sting out of the game and frustrate, then they stand a chance of picking up a result.

Saturday’s fixture (8 April) will be an excellent measure of just how far Rangers have come under their new boss. They were unfortunate not to beat the Celts in the most recent Ibrox fixture and will need to replicate and exceed the levels they reached this weekend.
Win or bust for Beale’s men.
In other Rangers news, another Ibrox exit may be on the cards after a major revelation last week which could force the clubs to part ways with a senior player.
