John Hartson makes Rangers and Celtic admission ahead of Old Firm derby
John Hartson believes that Celtic can start celebrating their title win if they manage to pick up three points against Rangers this week.
Gers visit Celtic Park on Saturday, 8 April, facing a nine-point deficit with 30 games already played in the 2022/23 season.
Despite losing just once all season, Michael Beale’s side are playing catch up to their arch rivals who appear on course to retain the title.

Speaking on Go Radio Football Show on 4 April, Hartson said, “Although Celtic are nine points clear if they win they are making a slight first of it, and they have to win.
“They have to put in a winning performance against a team that have lost one game all season and are in incredible form. I believe if Celtic win it, and I have refused to say this all season, it’s party day.
“There is no way back. They will go nine clear, plus the goals (difference). But if Rangers win it they could upset the apple cart slightly.
“They will feel they have got a little bit of hope. They have to go and perform at Celtic Park with no fans behind them and against a team who are on fire.”
Rangers need the win
Gers cannot go into this game thinking that anything apart from a win is acceptable as it is not and they need to be in the race as long as they possibly can.
It’s pretty evident that the Hoops are the favourites to win the title and will still be even if they lose but this will break their aura of superiority and would certainly dampen the confidence in the dressing room.
In the last Old Firm game, Beale got his team selection wrong and he cannot afford to make the same mistake for this one.

The team look to be in good form and the new signings are bedding in well so there’s plenty to be positive about going into this game for the visitors.
That said, it’s essential that they treat this game like a do-or-die as the season is virtually over if they fail to pick up the three points.
It’s going to be an exciting affair and hopefully, Beale has a few tactical surprises up his sleeve to get one over Ange Postecoglou.
In other Rangers news, another Ibrox exit may be on the cards after a major revelation last week which could force the clubs to part ways with a senior player.
