Chris Sutton delivers verdict on Celtic ace Kyogo Furuhashi ahead of Rangers clash

Chris Sutton believes that Rangers would not want to play against Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi after what he did in the League Cup final.

The Hoops icon believes that the Japan international gave the Gers players plenty of headaches en route to a 2-1 win in February.

With Giorgos Giakoumakis no longer at Celtic Park, Sutton thinks that Furuhashi can be the difference maker for this one.

Rangers
Chris Sutton has been a vocal critic of Rangers.

He told the Record Celtic podcast, “You just need to look at the League Cup Final and the goalscorer that day. Rangers might not have liked the physical aspect of Giorgos Giakoumakis and then Oh, but the certainty didn’t like the goalscoring exploits of Kyogo.

“Giakoumakis caused Rangers a lot of problems with his physicality but you look at the problems Kyogo gave them with his movement in the cup final. He’s not one to get too much involved in the build-up play, but he causes so many problems with that movement and his goals.”

Spot on

It was a tough game for Rangers to deal with the threat caused by the Celtic attackers and they’ve got to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

The team selection was wrong and Michael Beale deserves just as much blame for it as anyone and he’s got to come up with the answers this time.

It may be away from home so that only makes things tougher but if this Rangers team is to become a title-winning side again, they cannot be fazed by the occasion.

Rangers

A good start from them will put Celtic on the back foot and this can see the visitors play the game on their terms.

It’s easier said that done and a lot has to go right for them to get the three points but it’s certainly not a foregone conclusion.

There still is a decent bit to play for in the league and if Rangers get the three points, the gap will be down to six points and that’s worth fighting for.

In other Rangers news, another Ibrox exit may be on the cards after a major revelation last week which could force the clubs to part ways with a senior player.
