Official club partner reacts as referee named for Rangers Old Firm clash with Celtic
Official Rangers partner Heart and Hand podcast have reacted angrily to news that Kevin Clancy will referee the Old Firm clash with Celtic on Saturday (8 April).
The SFA have announced Clancy will be the man in the middle at Parkhead for the title decider, with Rangers needing a win to keep alive any hopes they have of being crowned champions at the end of the season
But Clancy has been criticised in the past on several occasions for poor performances, and Heart and Hand took to their official Twitter account to react to the news and called it “staggering”.
“Clancy appointed ref for Saturday,” they wrote. “So they weren’t kidding when they said it would only be Celtic fans attending.
“All joking aside, Clancy is the worst of a very bad bunch. How is he being given the top match in the country given his regular incompetence is staggering.”
Crazy
The biggest game in the country should have the best referee in charge, and whoever you think that is it definitely isn’t Kevin Clancy.
It’s a weird call from the SFA to have him as the man in the middle, but ultimately we have to make sure he’s not brought into the equation by dominating them on the pitch.

We need to win our tackles, win our individual battles and duels, create more chances, control the game, silence the crowd and score goals to show them we’re the better team.
Michael Beale has a point to prove, having won every single game bar the two clashes with Celtic since becoming Rangers manager, and with the semi-final to come at the end of the month too there are bigger implications for this game to come too.
Whoever the referee is, we need to do our jobs on the pitch or it won’t matter if the man with the whistle is Barney the Dinosaur because Celtic will punish us.
