Former Premier League coach joins Rangers backroom staff in a recruitment role
UEFA A License holder Luke Middlewick has confirmed he’s joined Rangers’ academy in a recruitment role.
Middlewick has previously held roles at Southampton, Bournemouth and Portsmouth and currently working with Pro Direct Academy.
The former Bournemouth under-23s coach confirmed his new role on Twitter on Monday evening (3 April).
“Pleased to announce that I have taken a position with Rangers within the academy recruitment department of the club. Excited to help the club move forwards,” he wrote (via Twitter, 3 April).
Progression
Progression is always required and continually looking to recruit and add new talent is an absolute must for the academy. Middlewick seems to have an array of experience down south and could well provide the club with the ability to recruit players from new parts of the country.
There have certainly been successes in recent times, with Zak Lovelace making the move to Ibrox from Championship side Millwall. It’s been a frustrating season for the 17-year-old. However, there’s certainly optimism that he will go on to be a key player for the first team in the coming years.

With Celtic continually improving, it’s essential Michael Beale and the board match their every move. Academy recruitment, first-team decisions and calls on out-of-contract players will all have an impact moving forward.
This appointment will hopefully continue a larger club-wide reshuffle but will certainly go under the radar with Saturday’s Old Firm Derby now firmly in sight.
In other Rangers news, a development at Ibrox worth nearly £2million to the club has come out on Monday evening.
