Official Rangers partner believes ‘time is right’ for Scott Arfield to leave Ibrox

Official club partner Four Lads Had A Dream believe the “time is right” for Scott Arfield to leave Rangers with his contract expiring this summer.

Nine players are set to see their contracts expire at Ibrox this summer, including loanee Malik Tillman, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Jack.

But while Beale has spoken about a lot of players, not much has been made of Arfield’s likely departure from the club but while responding to a fan’s tweet on social media the Four Lads podcast commented (2 April) that it’s likely the right decision.

“He’s (Beale) already said he wants to keep Kent, Jack and Tillman so I’d be happy to trust him on that,” they wrote.

“Arfield is the unluckiest on the list in my humble opinion but potentially time is right also.”

Correct

Arfield has been a great servant to the club, racking up 224 appearances in five seasons with the club, but he’s now 34 and barely even makes the bench.

Once the summer transfer window arrives, Beale is going to be looking to do a big overhaul of the squad with at least five players coming in, and the playing time for Arfield is likely to decrease even further.

He already penned a new one-year deal last summer at the last minute, but doing it again would just seemingly be a waste of resources for a player who doesn’t make us better anymore.

He can be celebrated for everything that he has done in the royal blue shirt, but this should be his last season at the club if Beale and the Rangers board are serious about pushing on and progressing next season.

Arfield deserves a great goodbye at Ibrox at the end of the season, and hopefully with a trophy lift at Hampden Park to boot, but the time is right for him to move on now.
