Adam Devine suspended for Rangers v Celtic clash after B team red card
Rangers will be without defender Adam Devine for the Old Firm derby clash with Celtic after he was sent off for the B team on Sunday (2 April).
Devine was featuring for the B team against Celtic’s B team in a 3-1 defeat and was sent off in second half stoppage time for a mindless lunge, the third red card for Rangers in the game.
That means an automatic two-game ban but because he has featured seven times for the first-team this season, the SFA regard him as a “recognised” member of the first-team and he must serve his ban for the first-team fixtures according to the Daily Record (3 April).

That means he won’t play for Michael Beale at Parkhead on Saturday (8 April), although it’s unlikely he would have been selected anyway.
Weird rule
Devine was sent off in a B team game while playing for the B team, so it’s a bit weird that his ban would transfer over to the first-team who had nothing to do with it.
The chances of him playing in the game anyway were slim, with his last minutes for the first-team coming against Aberdeen back in January as a late substitute.
He’s currently behind captain James Tavernier in the pecking order at right-back, but he has played at left-back too while Ridvan Yilmaz was injured and Borna Barisic was at the World Cup.

But the Croatian and Turkish internationals are now fit and raring to go, competing for the starting left-back spot, which means Devine is way down the list.
It’s still a weird rule, but it’s not going to affect the team too much hopefully.
We have to just hope that we don’t suffer with some injuries in those positions during the week otherwise his moment of madness will come back to bite us quickly.
