The Light Blues’ boss revealed (Joshua Barrie, Twitter account, 1 April) talks were held over the international break regarding the American’s future.

Good news

It’s excellent news to see the board actively pursue a permanent move for the 20-year-old.

He’s been one of the signings of the season and would be an asset for the Gers in the future. The transfer fee will be an issue, which is probably why talks are now underway between Ross Wilson and the Bundesliga giants.

However, the board must look at the American as an investment. Due to his young age, there’s no way his value will decrease and there’s a good chance they would be able to move him on for a large profit if there is interest from higher up the food chain.

With the league likely out of Rangers’ reach, there’s a chance for the board and Beale to cast an eye ahead to what promises to be a huge summer. With a number of players out of contract there’s an opportunity for the former QPR boss to shake things up at Ibrox and add quality to his squad.

In other Rangers news, a new manager on the scene has openly admitted he is after the Ibrox job.
