Douglas Park and Stewart Robertson set to meet with key Rangers shareholder Club 1872

Club 1872, the sixth-largest Rangers shareholder have confirmed that Douglas Park and Stewart Robertson will be meeting them on 26 April.

According to the Glasgow Times [31 March], tensions between the two parties have escalated in the past which has led to a breakdown in relationships.

However, they will now be looking to mend bridges and discuss issues that will help take the club in the right direction.

Club 1872 released a statement that read, “The Club 1872 Board wishes to update Contributors on our efforts to engage with the RIFC Board since Chairman, Douglas Park’s public commitment at the RIFC AGM in December 2022, to speak with us.

“Mr Park responded to us last week, indicating that he, his son, Graeme Park and Managing Director, Stewart Robertson would meet with us on 26th April. The meeting has now been confirmed.

“We will update Contributors following this meeting, which will be the first with representatives of the RIFC Board since March 2020.”

Safe standing at last?

Club 1872 have vehemently demanded to introduce safe standing at Ibrox but their protests have fallen on deaf ears with no changes being made.

Now, with the meeting confirmed, it is expected that it will be one of the prime topics of discussion and hopefully, they can arrive at a conclusion.

Despite there being seats available, fans have preferred to stand and watch games and not having any safe-standing areas poses a grave risk to their well-being.

It’s baffling how a club can live so much in the past and not take the appropriate measures to make it a safer viewing experience for its fans.

Rangers supporters have backed the team through thick and thin and spend their hard-earned money to show up to every game.

Hopefully, the meeting this month is one that brings about positive changes and work on doing something for the club begins sooner rather than later.

In other Rangers news, another Ibrox exit may be on the cards after a major revelation last week which could force the clubs to part ways with a senior player.
