Kenny Miller wants fourth spell at Rangers, he ‘absolutely’ wants backroom role at Ibrox

Kenny Miller has revealed he would jump at the chance to return to Rangers in a coaching capacity after previously helping out with the under-20s side.

Miller, 43, has enjoyed three stints at the Ibrox club and also controversially made the switch to Celtic in 2006.

The former striker hasn’t ruled out a return in the future, with Miller desperate to get back into the game in a coaching role.

“I would love to go back in some kind of capacity,” said Miller (Daily Record, pg 50, 30 March).

“Aye, absolutely, I want to get back into coaching. I love being on grass – whether that’s in a role I’ve been doing over the last few years as an assistant, as a first-team coach, or if the opportunity arises to go and be a manager.”

No surprise

Miller just cannot resist the chance to return to Rangers once more. He’s come back a number of times before so it cannot be 100 per cent ruled out.

However, at present, Michael Beale is probably quite content with the staff he has at his disposal. Too many cooks can spoil the broth and the former QPR boss won’t want too many voices in and around his squad. Furthermore, Miller’s commitments as a pundit may make a move back to Ibrox tricky to envisage.

He may need to target a job lower down the Scottish game to grow his reputation before looking to make the step up. Beale won’t be overly bothered by the former striker’s wishes. Rangers’ boss will be assessing his squad heading into what will be a crucial summer for the club.

With a number of players out of contract the 42-year-old will be hoping to significantly overhaul his squad to close the ever-increasing gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish game.

In other Rangers news, a pundit with insider information at Ibrox has shared one condition that will make Douglas Park leave the club.
