Rangers news as European Super League and UEFA clash emerges again
Stephen McGowan has shared that the likes of Rangers will be fearful of a call from UEFA regarding the possible reintroduction of the European Super League.
Writing in the Scottish Daily Mail print edition [25 March, pg 114], the journalist insisted that Bernd Reichart will not admit to holding talks with the Old Firm, despite Scottish talks taking place.
Rangers and Celtic have shown little or no enthusiasm towards new plans for the Super League, with it considered to be their main enemy after failed plans years ago.

He wrote: Reichart won’t admit to holding discussions with Celtic and Rangers.
“While talks with clubs in Scotland have taken place, he won’t say who with. The explanation for this is the fear of a call from UEFA to clubs found to be consorting with the enemy.
“A more likely reason is that the club ran a mile. Celtic and Rangers were once accused of hitching up their skirts for any old passing league. That they’ve shown little or no enthusiasm for this one probably tells you all you need to know.”

Fear.
It is easy for clubs to get carried away by the European Super League.
This is all about financial greed and the possibility of gaining more than those around, although that should not go beyond what the fans and everyone else want.
Plans for a Super League would damage the game beyond repair, as we saw from the outrage the last time around south of the border in England.
Rangers and Celtic were not involved last time, but the Daily Mail reported on 24 March that they would both be in line for more than £30million from the new format.
It looks unlikely at this stage, but should more clubs start to sign on the dotted line, the attention will switch to those who have not shown that appetite with the door then opened.
Reichart appears to be rounding the troops, and whether that will work remains unknown but time will tell whether Rangers will take the plunge, we hope not.
In other Rangers news, one first-team player is “likely to sign” a new deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season.
