We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Rangers...

Rangers attacker Kemar Roofe could return sooner than expected despite recently undergoing surgery on his hip which will rule him out for a while.

According to Dr Rajpal Brar, it is a minor procedure that may see him back before pre-season which is earlier than what the club predicted.

The injury expert does see him back for training camp and without putting a date on his return, he expects it not to be a lengthy layoff.

He’s also advised the club to manage his return “methodically” and ensure that he undergoes proper training to regain his fitness.

Explaining exclusively to Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said, “Given what the club have said, it’s a minor procedure so I imagine he could be back prior to pre-season and will be there for the training camp.

“The best way to prevent it will be proper fitness training and managing his return methodically.”

Roofe’s injury record has been appalling this season as he’s failed to play more than 45 minutes of a single game.

Across all competitions, he’s played six games and has not started on any occasion.

He has been ruled out with a knee injury this season, but needed to undergo an operation on his hip which all but ended his chances of him being fit before May.
