Standoff continues in Rangers boardroom as Kyle Fox news emerges – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that there was a standoff in the Rangers boardroom as Kyle Fox has now withdrawn her push to invest at Ibrox.
The finance expert admitted it was likely Douglas Park behind the breakdown in talks, with Dave King still likely playing a role in future potential investment.
King is still open to selling his 14% shares still, but that may not be enough to tempt Fox into getting one foot at the door with a controlling stake wanted.

“There are a lot of moving parts here,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“You often see this narrative of what we have heard from Kyle Fox, we’ve withdrawn at the minute but are open to the conversation, it seems counterintuitive but it’s often due to the people in those positions.
“At the minute, it appears to be that Douglas Park does not want to sell to Kyle Fox, he’s very keen on it being a controlling stake so that then puts the blocks on that one.
“You’ve got Dave King there who is open to selling that 14% and he himself was opposed to the re-election of Douglas Park at a recent AGM. So you’ve got Park not wanting Fox at the minute, but you’ve got King who is not the biggest supporter of Park.
“Now, could Kyle Fox look at that 14% as an option to get a foot in the door, potentially, but if it is a controlling stake she is after then that’s really low value.

“Often, because of this, it becomes a person-centred thing, you can see the personal relationships at play which means you get the narrative that it is dead in the water but all of these people are open to further suggestions.
“There is a bit of a standoff here and we need to get to grips with it and maybe revisit it further down the line.”
Even during the international break, there is never a dull moment at Ibrox.
King pulled out of his agreement to eventually sell his shares to Club 1872 recently, meaning they are still technically up for grabs to any potential buyers – this is one to watch.
