Simon Jordan explodes in ‘absurd’ Rangers rant, hits out at Jim White live on talkSPORT
Simon Jordan has shared his verdict on Rangers and Celtic potentially joining a European Super League in the future, while live on talkSPORT.
Reports emerged on Friday (24 March) that the Old Firm clubs could potentially join a 60-80 team Super League, which would see them earn far more money than they currently do.
And the debate raged while live on talkSPORT (24 March, 11:11) between Jim White and Jordan, with the two at loggerheads about whether it was a good or bad thing for them to join.

“A lot of the fans came on to the streets and said ‘forget that, we want our teams to remain in the Champions League because we enjoy that format,” Jim White said.
But Jordan responded; “Rubbish, absolute rubbish. It’s all money. You’ve just done a preposterous mischaracterisation. Take the meritocracy out of it and what was the problem? The answer is there wasn’t one.”
When speaking directly about Celtic and Rangers’ potential involvement, Jordan defended the Old Firm clubs because of the “absurd” difference in cash they receive currently compared to other elite European clubs.
“They are inferior, on the football pitch not on their values to their communities. Let’s assume that there’s no benefit to the league whatsoever,” he said.
“Let’s assume that Celtic and Rangers are going to be allowed to go and compete in a tournament without any drag and tag effect, i.e. some benefits of distribution into the league.
“What about if Celtic and Rangers went into those tournaments on a caveat that a kickback opportunity was financial incentives for the Scottish Premiership. Would that be a bad thing?
“Given the fact the Scottish Premiership gets absolutely nothing. It gets £30million, what one Premier League team gets for playing nine games in a season, the entire Scottish Premiership gets as a football distribution. It’s absolutely absurd.”

Hard earned
Rangers have earned their status as one of the most historic clubs in European football because of the fan base and the 55 league titles we have to our name.
So it’s not right that we’re constantly held back by our domestic league because they don’t care about it enough to negotiate proper value for TV deals and revenue, or that we should have to help out all the other teams because they’re not capable of helping themselves.
Yes joining a European Super League would hurt the Scottish Premiership, but that shouldn’t be our problem because it’s a replacement for European competition and not domestic competition.
If they chose to expel us from the league because of it then they’d only be hurting themselves, and why would we give up more money to help them if that’s how they want to treat us?
We should have the right to look into it and if the deal is right for the club then take it, and not worry about others reactions to it because if they had the opportunity they’d take it with both hands too.
In other Rangers news, the club could make as many as ten first-team signings in the summer according to a report.
