Rangers transfer news emerges as noises come from Ibrox – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that it is a real possibility that Rangers will enter the transfer market full steam ahead this summer after Stuart Gibson spoke out.

The third largest shareholder at Ibrox broke his silence recently to say that it’s time the club entered the window in a big way, with a realisation emerging behind the scenes, it seems.

Finance expert, Plumley, has shared that there are noises coming out of the club surrounding the squad and the need for new talent to come in.

“I think it is a possibility for sure,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“There is a realisation at Rangers, that they perhaps need to spend to kick on again.

“They’ve had a brilliant few years, back up to the top of Scottish football, league title, Europa League run twice, into the Champions League, so they’ve had a really good run over the last few years, but there is also a need to refresh and keep strengthening.

“There are noises about that squad that it potentially needs to be broken up and new talent needs to come.

“I think now is a good time for it and I think the finances have been in pretty good nick over the past few years so there appears to be a bit of momentum behind it to invest, and you have to keep investing, they have to keep challenging at the top of the Scottish leagues, they have to get into Europe and keep doing that, so, it is important for them.

“It is realistic to say there is probably another shift change coming at Rangers over the next two to three years.”

There could be a summer of change ahead of Ibrox, with plenty of contract decisions to be made.

Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos could both leave Glasgow behind for pastures new, so money would need to be spent to make sure they are not left behind.

All eyes are certainly on Ibrox once that transfer window opens again.

In other Rangers news, the club are in line for a multi-million windfall from the Premier League after a £10m Auchenhowie milestone was reached.
