Ross Wilson surely throws another £400k in the bin amid Rangers Tuesday development
Mateusz Zukowski is set to return to Rangers but the right-back’s future at the club remains extremely uncertain despite only joining the Gers in January 2022.
The 21-year-old has made just three league appearances for Lech Poznan after joining the Polish club on loan for the duration of the 2022/23 season. Poznan do have the option to make his deal permanent, however, that’s a move which looks extremely unlikely, with Zukowski set to return to Scotland at the end of the campaign.
The Poland youth international could now be staring at the exit door just over 12 months after joining Rangers. The Daily Record claim (Tuesday 21 March) Michael Beale is unlikely to give him a fresh start when he does return, with there being a strong chance the £400,000 signing moves on in the summer.

If Rangers lose the right back at the end of the season it’s yet another damning indictment on the club’s transfer business pre-Beale. £400,000 is a significant amount of money and the board will not be able to recoup that amount for Zukowski if he does depart.
Questions are already being asked of Ross Wilson and his tenure at the club, but what exactly was the point in signing the right back? James Tavernier was always going to be the first choice, no matter who was in the dugout. Adam Devine is emerging and has proven to be an adequate backup – so where exactly did Wilson think Zukowski was going to fit in?

He would’ve needed to produce something pretty special to upset the apple cart and that’s not a fair scenario to dump the 21-year-old in. Realistically, a summer exit is on the cards and he’s just another example of a Wilson failure.
The fans made their feeling heard during the 4-2 win over Motherwell and, after examples such as this, it’s with good reason. Wilson and Steward Robertson are on thin ice in the eyes of some and they desperately need one piece of silverware to halt the growing cloud of discontent which is looming over Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, the club board should now be feeling the pressure after images emerge from stands in 4-2 win over Motherwell.
