Rangers heap praise on award-winning ‘star performer’ Glen Kamara ahead of potential major Finland milestone

Rangers have singled out midfielder Glen Kamara as a “star performer” ahead of his international matches with Finland this week.

Kamara has been included in the latest Finland squad for their Euro 2024 qualifying games against Denmark on Thursday (23 March) and Northern Ireland on Sunday (26 March).

The midfielder’s displays for his country have not gone unnoticed, with Kamara recently voted as the Finnish Footballer of the Year.

“Kamara has once again been called up to the Finland squad as his side look to secure qualification to UEFA EURO 2024,” stated the official Rangers website.

“The 27-year-old was a star performer at the most recent European Championships for his country, and he will be keen to lay down a marker in fixtures against Denmark and Northern Ireland over the coming week.”

Major milestone incoming

Kamara has not been enjoying his busiest season on the pitch at Rangers, with the midfielder in and out of the starting XI amid an ankle injury and dips in form.

He has witnessed manager Michael Beale bring in new faces in order to improve competition for places in midfield, with such arrivals bringing about rumours regarding Kamara’s future at Ibrox.

But one place where the 27-year-old is well-regarded is Finland, with Kamara in line to reach his 50th Finland cap should he feature in both matches this month. Given his recent track record for his country, that looks set to be the case.

The midfielder is also approaching major milestones both with his club and in Scotland in general, with the player having made 189 Rangers appearances and 149 Scottish Premiership, according to Transfermarkt.

A product of the Arsenal youth academy, Kamara has been a superb servant for Rangers since joining from Dundee in 2019, with fans undoubtedly appreciative of his efforts in recent campaigns.

In other Rangers news, journalist Joshua Barrie has urged the club to secure an “outstanding” player transfer “at all costs.”
