Joel Piroe on his way to Ibrox – Three transfers Rangers could land in summer window
Despite the dust from the January window only just beginning to settle, Rangers will already have one eye on the upcoming summer trading period.
Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin mark the start of Michael Beale’s Ibrox overhaul, however, there’s no doubt more work will be done in the summer. Quality is certainly required, with a number of players out of contract and set to depart at the end of the season.
Rumours have already begun to emerge and here Ibrox News takes a look at three realistic targets Beale could look to land during the off-season.

Joel Piroe
First up is Swansea City striker Joe Piroe. The Dutchman is enjoying another impressive campaign for the Championship side and has 38 goals in 80 games for Russell Martin’s men since his arrival in the summer of 2021. Football League World report (15 March) the Light Blues, along with a number of Championship clubs, are eying the 23-year-old hotshot.
There’s been plenty of talk surrounding Alfredo Morelos’ future and, at present, an exit does feel like the most likely scenario. If the Colombian does depart, another striker is a must and Piroe fits the bill. He’s young, proven, and would be excellent competition for Antonio Colak. This would be an exciting addition if the board can fight off the English interest in the Swansea man.
Angus Gunn
A goalkeeper is also set to be top of Beale’s shopping list. According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon (Patreon page on Sunday, 12 February), Norwich goalkeeper Angus Gunn is an option being considered by the Light Blues.

Allan McGregor is surely set to call time on his career and Jon McLaughlin has his doubters. Therefore another number one has to be a priority and the Scotland international seems like a good fit. He’s seen less gametime at the Championship club of late and could follow Cantwell to Ibrox.
Thomas Kristensen
The Scottish Sun also report (9 March) that Rangers have cast their eye over 21-year-old AGF Aarhus star Thomas Kristensen. The towering defender would be an astute addition by Beale, particularly after the departure of James Sands.
Ben Davies and Connor Goldson have been an excellent partnership of late, but a younger alternative adding competition would be welcomed. Quality is required all over the pitch and on the bench if the Light Blues want to close the gap to Celtic.
It’s a vital window for the board. All eyes are on Ross Wilson with every decision under the microscope.
In other Rangers news, the club are in line for a multi-million windfall from the Premier League after a £10m Auchenhowie milestone was reached.
