Alfredo Morelos could stay at Rangers despite Michael Beale squad overhaul – Sky Sports journalist
Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge still thinks Alfredo Morelos could stay at Rangers despite the Colombian failing to agree a new contract at Ibrox.
Vamos Mi Sevilla reported on 10 March that the 26-year-old was closing in on a move to Sevilla with a deal set to be agreed upon, although the manager has since dismissed the suggestion [Sky Sports, 16 March].
And Bridge has since suggested it’s “not impossible” for the striker to remain at Ibrox, despite Michael Beale looking to “rip up” the squad during the summer window.

“Beale strikes me as a guy who’s going to rip up the squad. He’s going to have ideas, and he’s got a lot of contacts in the game,” said Bridge (GIVEMESPORT, 20 March).
“He will know what he wants, and he will know what Rangers lack. I feel Michael Beale has challenged Morelos: ‘you can do better, show me.’ He’ll be encouraged by what he saw at the weekend.
“He’s been a great servant to the club and personally, I’d expect him to move on in the summer but it’s not impossible he stays.”
Shame
It would be a crying shame if Morelos did depart the club for nothing at the end of his current contract. He’s a player who has improved massively under the new boss after a messy start to the season and still has plenty to give.
He should be in the prime of his career and the board would do well to find a better option elsewhere.
He knows the club and the fans and there’s a strong chance he wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter if he moves at the end of the season.

The Ibrox hierarchy need to place an offer on the table. They shouldn’t break the bank for the Colombian, but a competitive deal is the least he deserves.
Beale has been extremely coy on ongoing contract negotiations and there’s a chance Morelos’ situation is still very much up in the air.
Despite a number of players seemingly destined for the exit door, Beale will surely be eager to keep the striker at the club.
