Chris Jack: Ibrox testimonial likely ahead for Rangers star James Tavernier
A testimonial is now likely for James Tavernier ahead of the full-back reaching a century of goals for Rangers, according to journalist Chris Jack.
The Gers veteran provided a moment of inspiration for Rangers scoring his 98th goal for the club from a superb free-kick in their impressive 4-2 win over Motherwell on Saturday [18 March].
It’s now 392 appearances for the Light Blues and Jack, writing for The Herald [20 March] believes the 31-year-old is now likely to be rewarded with a testimonial celebrating his glittering Ibrox career.

He wrote: “It is only a matter of time before the landmark can be toasted and the videos and graphics to mark such an achievement can be posted.
“The highlights reel of each one of Tavernier’s goals for Rangers will make emotional viewing for the man himself and bring back mixed memories for those who have watched a career that is now set to take him to an Ibrox testimonial.”
Legend
Tavernier’s record for the Gers is simply incredible and unique, given his position as a right-back. Certainly, the defender’s goals come from penalties and free-kicks but it shows that the Ibrox veteran has mastered his art and is able to deliver at crucial moments when the Gers need it most.
The 31-year-old’s free-kick against Motherwell at Fir Park was just yet another example of his class, iconic status at Ibrox and his peerless quality and he is certainly deserving of a testimonial at some point, because his achievements at the club are warrant of being celebrated.

When much of the focus around the club has been centred around the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, Tavernier’s consistency and class have somewhat gone unnoticed.
The 31-year-old has proven time and time again that he is the man to deliver special moments for the club when they need it most and his goal against Motherwell provided the catalyst for his teammates to go and wreak havoc at Fir Park.
392 Rangers appearances is an absolutely incredible feat and it will continue for a long while yet with Tavernier still at the top of his game.
In other Rangers news, a pundit with insider information at Ibrox has shared one condition that will make Douglas Park leave the club.
