Chris Sutton slams Rangers after club refuses to budge on Old Firm derby support numbers
Chirs Sutton has slammed the Rangers hierarchy and labelled them “pathetic” for refusing to budge on the number of fans allowed to travel to Old Firm encounters.
Sky Sports shared on Friday (17 March) that there would be no changes to away allocations for the last two Old Firm league games of the season following incidents at recent matches between the two clubs.
However, the Daily Record reported that it was the Gers who were unwilling to budge on the number of travelling supporters allowed when the two sides met, with Celtic said to want “mega crowds”.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday (18 March), former Hoops player Sutton slammed the Ibrox club, saying: “Really damaging this is for the profile of the Scottish game.
“Everyone knows who needs to move on this and how it can be resolved, you have to ask why Rangers won’t budge.

Despite the atmosphere between the two clubs occasionally spilling over the edge and taking a turn for the worse, the idea of banning fans completely is an absurd one.
If it is true that Rangers are the team unwilling to allow fans, then this is not the best look.
The board are already under the pump from Gers fans for a number of transfer blunders and failures to sign players up on new contracts, and it now seems like they have topped this off and angered fans even more.
This is likely to be the final straw for many Gers fans who have stood beside the board over the last 12 months. The best away days of the season come in Old Firm clashes, and the atmosphere created could arguably be one of the best in European football.
Hopefully, Rangers will reconsider their stance on allowing away fans, as an Old Firm without a full contingent of supporters won’t be the same.
