Rangers transfer links with Swansea City striker Joel Piroe wide of the mark with no talks held
Reports of Rangers being interested in signing Swansea City striker Joel Piroe are “wide of the mark”, with no conversations taking place between the two clubs, according to the Swansea Independent.
Football League World shared (15 March) that the Gers are interested in signing the 23-year-old and have sent scouts to watch him play for the Swans this season.
The Dutch attacker has quickly established himself as one of the Championship’s most potent forwards since joining Swansea in 2021, scoring 38 goals from 82 appearances for the club.
Michael Beale’s current first-choice number nine Alfredo Morelos is out of contract at the end of the season and unlikely to sign an extension, so Rangers are expected to dip into the transfer market for a replacement this summer.
However, the Swansea Independent has reported that links between the Gers and Piroe are merely speculation.
They wrote: “Recent reports regards Middlesbrough, Rangers, Burnley wanting to sign Piroe are all wide of the mark and of no significance whatsoever.

“This is speculation, and no conversations have taken place. That is at this time, the future is unwritten.”
Shame
Rangers are in need of a contingency plan in case Morelos does leave the club in the summer and Piroe fits the bill for an ideal replacement.
Without the Colombian at Ibrox, Beale’s attacking reserves are a little scarce. Antonio Colak has proven himself a potent goalscorer when he has been fit this season, but Kemar Roofe continues to be a liability due to his rotten injury record.
A replacement is certainly required, and Piroe has confirmed over several seasons that he can score goals on a regular basis.
So far this term, the 23-year-old has netted 13 goals for Swansea, and with the likes of Fashion Sakala, Malik Tillman and Todd Cantwell providing him with service, this number could easily increase if he were to move to Ibrox.
Although the links with Piroe may be wide of the mark, it is promising that the club are already looking ahead to the summer transfer window with a view to bringing a forward in.
In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson feels that “it is curtains” for the future of one Rangers star.
