Charlie Nicholas tells Rangers fans to stop protests and moaning after Union Bears absence v Raith Rovers
Charlie Nicholas has told Rangers fans to “stop their moaning” and “swallow their medicine” after protests by the Union Bears against Raith Rovers.
The Gers fan group refused to attend the victory over Raith in the Scottish Cup after they were banned from bringing out a banner that was anti-police.
But as fans continue to be angered by the current Rangers board for a lack of progress on the pitch, former Sky Sports pundit Nicholas claims in his Daily Express column (14 March) that Rangers are lucky to be where they are right now and the fans should stop moaning.

“I don’t know where the Rangers fans are going with their protests,” he said.
“The bottom line is the club doesn’t have a lot of money and they are now having to pay back what was spent on stopping 10-in-a-row.
“The problem is that Rangers don’t have a strong budget. Their fans just need to swallow their medicine. The best they can hope for is winning the Scottish Cup again this season and then they can build again.
“What I take from Michael Beale is that there will be massive improvements. People slagged me last summer because they needed six or seven players. They need the same again come the end of the season.
“They will get rid of Alfredo Morelos and players like that and they will improve. The Rangers fans should stop their moaning and groaning because they are lucky to be where they are.”
Keep quiet
Nicholas is absolutely waffling as usual because he simply doesn’t understand what he’s talking about and is speaking from a place of rivalry.

What he says about on the pitch issues is no doubt true, with the club needing a big makeover in terms of personnel and ambition, but that can’t happen with the current penny-pinching board in place.
But off the pitch, the fans are angry about the fact that they’re being silenced by the club but even moreso at the lack of ambition being shown by those in charge.
Money isn’t being spent on improving us on the pitch, and it has seen us fall behind Celtic by quite a distance – which was unthinkable after we won 55 under Gerrard less than two years ago.
Nicholas should just stick to what he knows. The reason behind the protests and banners is because Rangers fans refuse to allow their standards to slip below being successful, even if the board have stopped caring.
