Ryan Jack injury emerges in early Rangers update ahead of clash v Motherwell

Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has had a “slight issue” with his calf and the club are currently managing the injury ahead of their clash with Motherwell, as shared by journalist Jonny McFarlane.

The 31-year-old veteran was an unused substitute as Rangers comfortably beat Raith Rovers 3-0 in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.

Jack started the Light Blues’ last two games in the Scottish Premiership – wins over Kilmarnock and Hibernian – prompting questions as to why he played no part at the weekend.

Taking to his personal Twitter account on Monday [13 March], McFarlane relayed the update on Jack’s condition provided by Rangers boss Michael Beale:

“Michael Beale says Ryan Jack has had a slight issue with his calf and Rangers have been managing him. Given a well-deserved rest today.”

The club have been beset with injuries all season so Beale will be hoping that rest can avoid yet another here becoming a bigger problem.

Give him time

Considering Jack’s constant injury niggles this season, it is crucially important the Gers do not rush him back to action so soon as he still remains a vital part of Beale’s midfield for the remainder of the campaign.

The manager himself admitted that Jack is among the “best eleven” [Daily Record, 19 December] players at the club.

The 31-year-old once again flaunted his quality for every Gers fan to mull over in their last two wins before this weekend, as the club scored seven times against Kilmarnock and Hibernian combined.

Rangers

Rangers will surely be undergoing a stark rebuild this summer, as Beale continues to mould the squad into his image and with Jack’s contract running to an end at the end of May, his future at Ibrox looks uncertain.

However, if the veteran midfielder continues to pull up trees like he’s done in recent weeks, it won’t be a surprise to see Beale extend Jack’s deal.

His experience could again prove invaluable next term as the Gers seek to topple their Old Firm Rivals Celtic once more.
